Montreal Lacrosse Grounds
In June 1879, a two mile race was contested at the Montreal Lacrosse Grounds for a gold medal. It was won by Horace S. Tibbs. This was the first recorded bicycle race in Canada.
The Lacrosse grounds were used for many races by the Montreal Bicycle Club until they were sold in 1887. The MAAA grounds which replaced the Lacrosse Grounds began construction in 1888. During this High Wheel era many of the races were won by W.G. Ross or G.S. Low. |
Club Dawg was also known as Disreali
