Cities Need to Make Space for Transportation Alterrnatives. Globe and Mail 1 Aug 2023 The newly constructed modern St Denis Réseau Express Vélo (REV) quickly became Montreal's principal North - South bicycle route. It overshadowed older adjacent bidirectional paths and it shows what a success a REV can be in a dense urban corridor. In November 2022 Project Montreal announced their plans for expansion of the REV network up to 2027. The most notable street included was Jean Talon. Sherbrooke street, another dense urban corridor, which could become Montreal's principal East- West bicycle route was not mentioned. As result of this delay, it seems unlikely that any new REV expansion will be built on Sherbooke Street in the near future. We can only dream of when this might happen. On the second day of each month we will gather at Girouard Park show the cities and boroughs involved the desire for this expansion and for us to plan how it might happen. Like the Monteal Bicycle Club Fixture rides, we keep minutes of social events related to promoting the Sherbrooke Street REV. |
