Of special note, the medal awarded to A.T. Lane in 1885 for the one mile tricycle race is part of this display case photographed in 2019.
One Mile, Tricycle Championship
Clench went off first, closely followed by Lane. Mothersill's machine collapsed and he was out of the race. On the second lap Lane went ahead rapidly, and won as he pleased.
L.D. Munger, who participated in the tricycle "One Mile, Open to the World" race in Woodstock is "Birdie" Munger, who later becomes trainer for Major Taylor. |
