The Kick Off Meeting for Cycling Without Age was held over Zoom at 2:00 pm Friday Nov 27. There was a short introduction by all the attendees explaining who they were and why they had attended. Gary & Jane gave a summary of their experiences in starting Cycling Without Age Chapters in various parts of Canada since 2016. They were excited to attend the meeting of what may become the first chapter in Quebec. There are currently over 60 Cycling Without Age trishaws active within Canada. Gary has a connection with 9 in the Ottawa area alone.
Cycling Without Age offers a number of different styles of trishaws with varying prices. The type we wish to purchase will be studied further.
Various methods of fundraising to finance the purchase of the trishaw were discussed and will also be studied.
Because of the Rotary Club's close connection with the senior's residence Manoir Westmount, this location will be the group's first choice for trishaw storage. The Manoir will also be the groups's first contact to discuss programs we would like to offer.
A website will be set up to fund raise for the trishaw purchase, attract volunteer pilots, schedule rides and to keep a photo journal of rides.
Various models of how insurance could be purchased were discussed and this will be investigated further.
