A Progress Meeting for the Westmount Cycling Without Age Chapter was held over Zoom at 1:00 pm Friday Jan 15. Since the last meeting we became aware that another group in Westmount were also planning to start a CWA chapter. After speaking with them it was decided to merge the two efforts.
Malcolm McRae reported that since the last meeting he has learned that it is feasible to park the trishaw at his Apartment building. Knowing now that we have a place to park the trishaw, we can now begin the process of fundraising via the Westmount Rotary Club to purchase a trishaw.
Ian Cochrane recommended that we plan to purchase the "Taxi" model of trishaw offered by Allo Vello. He will check what payment schedule would allow us a spring delivery.
Jane Hu told us of insurance options that different chapters within Canada are using. This will be investigated further. She also provided us with examples of CWA pilot training manuals.
Susan Buscemi mentioned that as a Rotary Club program the chapter pilots may have to be certified by Rotary to work with vulnerable people (seniors). This will be looked into.
There was discussion as to if the passengers would be required to wear helmets. Ron Gallant later produced a Quebec Government document that states users of e-bikes must wear bicycle helmets.
A website will be set up to fund raise for the trishaw purchase, attract volunteer pilots, schedule rides and to keep a photo journal of rides.
